Project Lock Token
A Project Lock Token is a security measure on the Spider that prevents programming of unauthorized configurations. It is stored in the Spider (via Spider Settings) and in the associated configuration.
A Configuration Password is required to keep the token safe. All Spiders in a project should have the same token. Spiders that have a token cannot be programmed with a configuration that has no token or a configuration that has another token.

Reader Password
Changes to a reader can be make with the Configurator app over BLE or with our tools over USB or a serial connection. A Reader Password is a password that is stored in the reader. Without this password you can not (over-) write persistent settings, configurations or make firmware changes in the reader if a Reader Password is set for that source.
It can be set to apply for each of the three possible sources;
USB, serial and BLE

How and when to use
Use a Project Lock Token to make sure the configuration is safe, made by someone in your organization with the token.
It is still possible to update firmware without knowing the token.
Use Configuration Password if you are concerned about certain information in the configuration being shared outside your organization, such as the Project Lock Token.
Use the Reader Password to make sure that only certified personel can update the firmware or configuration.
Different roles within your organization can have different access by using the Project Lock Token and the Reader Password, making a layered security plan possible.
